Hi, I’m Christina!

I’ve always loved reading and writing and have been working as a freelance proofreader since 2021. After discovering crypto earlier that same year, I became determined to learn as much as I could. I kept thinking about how I could utilize my skills in the Crypto/Web3 space to provide value.

About a year in, I stumbled upon a tweet about a writers channel in the CryptoVenusNFT discord. I joined the channel and a lightbulb went off: Proofreading! I’ve seen countless errors and mistakes on NFTs already minted and sold or mistakes in newsletters, threads, websites, and articles.

I realize proofreading may not seem glamorous or fun to most, but I actually enjoy it—maybe it’s my inner perfectionist wanting things to sound and look their best. I take my work seriously and always give 100% to every project.

My Qualifications

After I left traditional finance, I became a digital court reporter, transcriptionist, and proofreader in 2013. During the past ten years, I’ve transcribed and proofed hundreds of legal documents, such as depositions, sworn statements, trials, and hearings.

Working as a court reporter and proofreader, one must have high attention to detail. Some documents could be used in criminal cases or become public record forever (like on the blockchain), and accuracy matters.

I’m currently working as a proofreader for a marketing consultant on research reports. (Some reports I’ve worked on.) As well, I’m full-time mom, taking care of my two little kids.

Some additional background

I started a career in traditional finance in New York City in the early 2000s after graduating from the University of Miami in Coral Gables. I was working as an analyst for a large, international bank on a team that managed over US$1 billion. I became disenchanted and left the industry in 2010. I remember a friend telling me about Bitcoin in 2009, but I wasn’t on that level yet and missed many early opportunities.

It wasn’t until the pandemic that I discovered crypto. I began investing in January 2021, and since then, I have put myself through “crypto school.” I discovered NFTs that summer, as well. I’ve made some mistakes, listened to the wrong people, and ignored red flags, but I have learned so much along the way. In fact, this education gave me the foresight to pull my BTC/ETH out of yield accounts and exchanges after the UST/LUNA collapse—just in time for the Celsius lock and subsequent contagion.

I’ve dabbled in DeFi, staking, swaps, yield nodes (rugged!), farming, pools, leverage—I wanted to learn as much as I could about the entire space. Although, the more I learn, the more I’m focusing my investments primarily in Bitcoin and ETH (including select NFTs). Since my journey began, I knew I wanted to work in the crypto industry, as I believe DeFi and crypto are the future of finance. I have minted some photography NFTs on the Tezos blockchain, and plan to release a collection on Ethereum. However, proofreading is a skill that I’m not only good at, I enjoy it, and I can use it right now to provide value and help write Web3.
